The Bluespotted ribbontail stingray has left a coral ledge and moves over bright sandy bottom. He has golden shimmering, expressive eyes. (00000656)

Description: Bluespotted ribbontail stingray/Taeniura lymma

Bluespotted ribbontail stingray (Taeniura lymma)

It is a very nice sight to see the Bluespotted ribbontail stingray in flight. Often they rest on the sandy bottom or half hidden under a coral ledge. The upper side of the Bluespotted ribbontail stingray is ochre with round and oval spots in a beautiful light blue. The golden shimmering, expressive eyes are particularly fascinating. The Bluespotted ribbontail stingray feeds on shrimps, worms and hermit crabs. At the tail end he has two poisonous spines.
