Description: Red Sponge/Cliona vastifica

Red sponge (Cliona vastifica)

This red sponge (Cliona vastifica) lives in a few meters deep covered lime substrates with a thin layer and solves them on by an acid secretion. The thickness of this layer is only a few millimeters. The sponge forms millimeter-wide aisles, which become a widely branched system of tunnels beneath the surface of the substrate. Finally, the sponge destroyed the entire skeleton of infested coral.
