Description: Greater Yellowlegs/Tringa melanoleuca

Greater Yellowlegs in shallow water

The birds were almost constantly at our tent and were always more trusting. The greater yellowlegs (Tringa melanoleuca) is a large North American shorebird. It is found in the taiga zone of southern Alaska, British Columbia, Central Canada, Labrador, Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. Very rarely, sometimes also in Northern Europe.
