The colourful Soft Corals are a striking reef component at the end of the large flat reef plateau. Beautifully coloured they are found in red, pink, purple, white or yellow in all areas of the reef. Soft Corals and Feather Stars are also at the entrance of a cave the of which is completely covered with vegetation. Many mussels, snails and the most different Stone Corals fascinate divers and snorklers. Only a few metres further there is the reef drop off, a vertical partly overhanging wall, ending in the “nowhere“ in a depth of 4,000 metres. Diving at the drop off of the Namena Barrier Reef on Fiji is certainly a highlight Fish shoals, large fish, rays and turtles – on a length of 30 kilometres you can dive everywhere, if the weather permits. But there is a lot of interesting things to see for divers even near the landing pier: an accumulation of Giant Clams, a part of them up to 40 years old, apart from that colourful Christmas-Tree Worms and Coral Fish. Surely there are also wrecks from the past, but they are lying in the “nowhere“, unreachable for divers. Other photos were taken at the Red Sea, in South Africa, the Maldives, Bahamas and the northern Central Pacific.
