Photos of the Fireweed (Epilobium augustifolium) in the "backcountry" of the Katmai National Park/Alaska, as well as grass at the riverbank in the last evening light

Fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium) is the first pioneer plant that is regrowing after a forest fire.

Fireweed turns entire landscapes into a bright sea of colours. The people of Alaska say that you can see the state of the summer in the small pink to purple flowers.

Fireweed is a valuable medicinal herb, and the shrub plant is found in many countries of the world.
