Their food finds the Swift tern near the coast.Swift Terns (Sterna bergii) are found on the islands off the South African coast all year round. They breed in colonies, often together with Hartlaub’s Gulls, as here on Dyer Island. In South Africa, there are approximately 6,000 breeding pairs. The breeding time at the western cape is between February and March, and the young birds fledge between April and May.
