Photos of the Wilson´s storm petrel (Oceanites oceanicus) at strong swell and high wind speeds on the open seaDuring a Storm with strong swell and high wind speeds we met these rare small Wilson’s Storm Petrels (Oceanites oceanicus) on the open sea off the southern tip of Africa They seemed to be weightless, they were constantly moving and it looked as if they were „walking“ over the water surface to pick the smallest rests of fish baits. Despite the adverse circumstances they were extremely successful. The natural habitat of the Wilson’s Storm Petrels is the Antarctic. |
